Selecting and cutting roses is in some way similar to picking coffee beans. Well, what makes it so, is the fact that it is a carefull and delicate labor done by hand, stem by stem. Even though this picture here shows men doing the job, most often you’ll find women taking care of this labor demanding proces. Right after cutting, flowers go straight to postharvest warehouses where they inmediately get the appropiate hydration, as the fistt step before getting ready for packing and shipping. Who would have imagined 40 or 50 years ago that this delicate crop could be packed and shipped overseas to far far way lands for people to enjoy?
